The HYPERDRIVE is a 8" torque converter based on the Opel original design. It was invented to be
used on ProMod types of high horsepower drag race cars utilizing a Turbo 400 or Powerglide style transmissions. Unlike typical 8" converters that are not 100% efficient the HYPERDRIVE incorporates an overdrive planetary gear set which overcomes fluid losses with resulting lower E.T.'s and MPH. It incorporates a maximum stall ratio spragless steel stator, chrome moly input shaft splined hub, fully furnaced brazed impellar and turbine for maximum strength and durability, and a fully heat treated and hardened planetary gear set. It is NOT a lockup clutch converter but a maintenance free unit delivering over 100% efficiency, actually over 120% efficiency achieving lower E.T.'s and higher MPH!
